In a classic, "Mere Christianity", Clive talks about being good as a virtue and the distinction between how Christians and everyone else view this virtue...
when I watch this video, his dancing and singing, his joy...they are contagious...but they are also so outrageous in the context.
So, right away I think of his actions as much the same way Christians view being good as a virtue; as a celebration of something...and that something is so deep in who we are a people, that we can't resist it. We've got to dance, sing, and be joyful.
"That is why the Christian is in a different position from other people who are trying to be good. They hope, by being good, to please God if there is one; or_ if they thing there is not- at least they hope to deserve approval from good men. But the Christian things any good he does comes from the Christ-life inside him. He does not thing God will love because we are good, but that God will make us good because He love us: just as the roof of a greenhouse does not attract the sun because it is bright, but becomes bright because the sun shines on it."
There are now words to explain what I just watched.
ReplyDeleteHa! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI can't help but get philosophical:
