For Zachary My nephew

Hi Zach! I'm glad you are reading this Blog. As you can see from the Grubbykupp Blog, there's a heck of a lot going on here. We're going to be fasting and praying around here. We're in over our heads... I'm hoping that a lot of christians will discover(uncover) Jesus by coming to neighborhoods like these. Jesus said,

Matthew 5:14-16 (New International Version)

New International Version (NIV)

14"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

So many Christians today, in our nation, are pulling away from the "poorer" areas. This isn't just about where you live. It's about WHO you live near--WHO you touch with your life...
All that stuff that Jesus wrote about laying down your life becomes unlikely if you choose where you live by how safe it is. and all that stuff that Jesus says about loving him in the hungry, thirsty, lonely, prisoner, etc... (matt25) doesn't come into play much if we move toward saftey, either...

so think about it and you'll see how happy we are to be in this mess... it's the kind of mess we ought to be in. And make sure to lovingly pray for your neighbors, since you have also moved into an area of greater neediness... love those neighbors and pray that God will show you how to BLESS them.

Your Loving Uncle,

Lew
