Our friend, Arsenne, from the Ivory Coast

Arsenne, from the Ivory Coast is a new member of our family for the next couple weeks. He stayed with John and Sydney Wallis for a long time, and now has come to share life with us. He is a fully scholarshipped track and field athlete, adn will be attending school in Indianapolis, soon.

last night, he shared the Big Living Room with Chris Challis. Tonight, he will brave the cold up in Zach's room across the street.

  1. This has nothing to do with your post. It's just a note...

I love reading Lewminator. Seeing funny and interesting pics of the family. It fills up my heart to share in my bro's life and see snapshots of the time I'm not able to spend with ya. If someone didn't know, Lew and I used to spend several days a week together when we both worked in loveland as youth pastors.

On the flip brother Lew, so hard to read Grubby Kupp's blog. Kindof has exhausted me. Especially the ramblings on The Church (big C). I have a list of about 20 blogs of friends of mine and soooooo many of them are sooooo angry and so full of non-love. And are soooo exhausting that I wonder if the Spirit's greatest gift of love has been lost on so many. Just read anything by the emerging church and you'll know what I mean... it seems. So, my blog has become announcements, family and church direction (similar to yours in some ways) and I've left my ramblings to emails and journal and talks with God. So many non-Jesus people are reading THE Church's blogs and they keep asking me why are we all so angry and if we can't be unified why would they want that.

    To sum up:
Love you and judy and jp and the group. Love your hearts for the Lord and the lost. I just hope The Church begins to quit talking about things and do something else. And here I am talking... Lord forgive me.

Love you all very much. You're in my hearts and prayers.

  2. hey man, gimme that list of 20 blogs and I'll add 'em in here to the links page on GK! the madder the better!

uh... i mean... oh. that's terrible... or...

no, seriously, I know. I wanted to give airtime to cassi's concern because i think we've lacked honesty and clarity in our discussion of the Big-Churches around us...

i feel like "membership" means that we belong to one another, and I don't think we're doing very well with that.
zach is passionate, and I agree with his heart, as well as the lion's share of his written words, too. I think GK is a place for dialogue and growth for people of differing views. I want people like Cassi, who feel very sweet toward the extant/institutional, to dialogue with folks like Zach, who feel very critical of those paradigms/communities...

So... GK will probly continue to bear the marks of a prophetic discussion, calling us back to action/praxy for our passion/doxy.

as for ceasing from talking and turning to doing, I think that the call is to walk and talk. talk the talk? then walk the walk...

i just hope that we can cut through the confusion that affluence has cast over the churc in our gen. sabes?
