you all know I'm not a news hog, but Read Jim Wallis' speech. Don't skip it. Definitely important. We are poised, brothers and sisters. Poised.

  1. So I read the speech.....
    1. I am not down with war, John Paul II, following in the teachings and truths of Jesus, denounced this war from the beginning on an entirely Christian basis
    2. I am tired of the rhetoric, the oppression, the doublespeak, the greed, the ........
    3. Yet, there is something lacking even in John Wallis' statements. I mean come on, does every person not affiliated with right wing conservatism have to invoke Dr. Martin Luther King? I mean, are you kidding me? I was really tracking him until then......then it just brought to mind his agenda, the disappointments he offers.
    4. I want to follow Jesus. My Church is very active politically and advocates some serious political involvement, but it is just bad tasting to me. I want to liberate the poor, but more and more I am realizing it is not coming through the government. It happens when I feed and befriend someone. Jubilee will come when I spurn what I have and even up with someone who doesn't have.
Then a funny thing happens, others want to do this too. Why? many reasons, but it all results in freedom and it is all because of Him who sets us free.....
    Thanks for friending me Lew

  2. That was a great comment, bro.

When I read it, it was at the MLK quote that I balked, as well.

Here's the stickie that I wrote:

Let’s march tonight, as Dr. Martin Luther King told us in another magnificent house of worship forty years ago this spring, to “rededicate ourselves to the long and bitter-but beautiful-struggle for a new world.”

I would say, not for a new world, but toward a new world.

We don't labor to see an earthly result, though those are inevitable when a force as powerful as the anointing of the Holy Spirit is unleashed among us.

No, rather, we labor for the pleasure of our Heavenly Sovereign, Jesus Christ, who will not be reduced to a doctrine or an ideal among us. He is the Living Word, incarnate, and present among us by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Thank you for a great comment, brother. Come to my house soon. Or I shall come to yours with my children.
